A figurine depicting Cao Guojiu 曹國舅, one of the Daoist “eight immortals” (ba xian 八仙), legendary Daoist masters who are said to attain immortality by mastering various techniques. Cao Guojiu is said to be of noble birth and is therefore depicted in court dress. He is depicted with a jade tile or a pair of wooden castanets. The figure is padded and glued to cardboard. (HM, PP)
