An oval fan, called buchae 부채 in Korean, featuring the taegeukseon 태극선 motif, or the yin and yang symbol (Kor. taeguk 태극), which signifies the fundamental law of nature or the harmony of everything. The motif is painted on paper with red, green, and yellow paint and fixed with persimmon juice. The handle is painted black. (NVG)
