Painting Two kneeling convicts
The tenth picture from an album of Chinese paintings depicting various methods of punishment in the Qing Dynasty, showing two suspects on their knees. One has his hands tied behind his back with an inscription, and an official is brandishing a sabre above the other. The image probably depicts a beheading, reserved for the worst offenders. (NVS)
