Postcard Golden Temple in Kyoto
A black-and-white photograph with subsequent hand colouring, showing the Golden Temple or Kinkakuji 金閣寺 at Rokuonji Temple 鹿苑寺 in Kyoto, originally the summer residence of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu 足利義満 (1358–1408). The entire three-story Zen building is gilded. Although it was destroyed by fire in 1950, it has now been rebuilt according to the original plan. UNESCO Cultural Heritage.
