The 49th insert from the album The Imperial City of Beijing, China. The photograph shows the decoration of the lower level of the central part of the rear staircase of the Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohedian 保和殿) in the Forbidden City (Gugong 故宫 or Zijincheng 紫禁城) in Beijing. The central part was exclusively for the use of the emperor.
