The porcelain vase was made in the imperial workshop of Jingdezhen in the 18th century and bears the mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1711–1799). It is glazed in a special technique of ‘flambé’ glazes, which imitate the famous jun-type ceramics of the Song dynasty, which are characterised by a strong red glaze, which in some places merges into shades of purple..
