A black-and-white photograph showing a Shinto gate, stone lamps and a lion, with a teahouse in the background on the right-hand side. The photo was taken before the great earthquake in the Kantō region in 1923, after Alma Karlin left Japan, and today, the place looks quite different. The summit of Mount Ōyama has a special meaning for the ascetics “yamabushi 山伏”.
