A black-and-white photograph showing the longer seventeen-part marble arch bridge (Shiqi kongqiao 十七孔橋) in the Summer Palace (Yiheyuan 頤和園) in Beijing. A 150-metre bridge crosses the lake, dividing it into two parts: Kunming Lake (Kunminghu 昆明) in the north and South Lake (Nanhu 南湖). It leads to Nanhu Island 南湖島 or “South Lake Island” – called “Dragon Island” in the album manual.

The photograph is the 319th of 449 photographs of Beijing and its surroundings in the album of Ivan Skušek Jr., purchased during his stay in Beijing (1914–1920). In the handwritten inventory of the album, the photograph is referred to as Wan-Schou-Schan: Marmourbrücke von der Drachen-Insel. (DZ, MV)
