A black-and-white photograph showing a street cobbler with tools and accessories on a carrying stick lying in front of him. Behind him, the shop front and passers-by can be seen. Like many other commercial activities, shoemaking often took place on the street.

The photograph is the 140th of 449 photographs of Beijing and its surroundings in the album of Ivan Skušek Jr., purchased during his stay in Beijing (1914–1920). In the handwritten inventory of the album, the photograph is referred to as Flickschuster. (DZ, MV)
