A black-and-white photograph showing two bamboo curtain makers in a street in Beijing. The workshop has no façade and is open to the street. One of the artisans is resting in the coolness of the shade, smoking opium with relish.

The photograph is the 141st of 449 photographs of Beijing and its surroundings in the album of Ivan Skušek Jr., purchased during his stay in Beijing (1914–1920). In the handwritten inventory of the album, the photograph is referred to as Binden der bamboo-Vorhänge. (DZ, MV)
