Container for ashes and embers
A container used to store ashes and embers, which were often mixed into the freshly prepared opium paste. The elongated octagonal container stands on two pedestals and has a lid decorated with an incised net ornament. The sides are decorated with incised and coloured stylised images. One of the longer sides features a human figure in a landscape; on the other a landscape scene. The shorter sides are decorated with a butterfly and a rooster, while the remaining four sides of the octagon are decorated with bat images. (HM)
