A black-and-white photograph showing a Chinese peasant pulling a heavy load with a team of two horses and a donkey. Behind him is one of the many city walls that separated the different parts of Beijing. It can be recognised by its low height and tiled roof.
The photograph is the 126th of 449 photographs of Beijing and its surroundings in the album of Ivan Skušek Jr., purchased during his stay in Beijing (1914–1920). In the handwritten inventory of the album, the photograph is referred to as Chin. Schwer-Fuhrwerk. (DZ, MV)
