The Celje Regional Museum keeps an outstandingly interesting and valuable collection of objects from Asia and South America. It comprises 153 items, many of which originate from East Asia. The collection includes pieces of samurai military equipment, a valuable Chinese missionary scroll, fans, artfully crafted Japanese tables, folding screens, a large Chinese lantern, decorative objects and other items. The objects were handed over to the museum by the former Federal Collection Centre in Celje (1945), which accounts for the lack of information concerning their provenance and method of acquisition.
