A black-and-white photograph showing the reliefs on the foundation of the pagoda in the Tianning temple (Tianningsi 天寧寺). The octagonal pagoda was built in the 12th century. Buddhist iconography can be seen in the reliefs.
The photograph is the 246th of 449 photographs of Beijing and its surroundings in the album of Ivan Skušek Jr., purchased during his stay in Beijing (1914–1920). In the handwritten inventory of the album, the photograph is referred to as Tien-Ming-Tse: Sockel der Pagode. (DZ, MV)
