Decorative roof tile

©

A decorative ceramic roof tile, glazed in various shades of green and brown, depicting a warrior on a horse. On the sides of the tile is a modelled decoration in the form of spirals representing clouds. The horse stands with its front legs slightly bent, and is fixed to the tile by means of an attachment in the middle of the belly. Its rider sits on a luxurious saddle, dressed in a robe, with boots on his feet and a headdress on his head. The entire figure is depicted with the body and face turned to the right, and the hands are raised in the air. The object probably dates from the 16th century or later. (TB)
